Walter Ough prided himself on his knowledge of the land of his birth - Mexico. Athough he was British by family heritage , education and inclination , he spoke Spanish "like a native", knew much about Mexican history and took great interest in the ancient Indian peoples who ruled over various parts of Mexico before the Spanish conquest. Nuhuatl was the language spoken by the Aztecs and is still used to the present day. It is a lovely language, but requires getting one's tongue around certain sounds and the accent in the right place for good pronunciation. Try Popocatépetl (The Smoking Mountain) or Iztaccihuatl (The Sleeping Woman) - the names of two of the highest mountains in the country.
